BJP Leader Biplab Kumar Deb Compares Mamata Banerjee to Mir Jafar: Claims West Bengal Has Lost Human Values

Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb launched a fierce critique against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming she has transformed into a "demon."

During remarks after praying at the Indranagar Kali Bari on Tuesday, Deb compared Banerjee to Mir Jafar, the historical figure who betrayed Siraj-ud-Daulah, Bengal's last independent ruler, suggesting she has similarly betrayed the meaning of her name, which represents motherly affection and compassion.

"Bengal today has lost its human values. Life seems to have no meaning there. Murder, rape, and arson have become commonplace, yet the Chief Minister remains unmoved—as though someone has surgically removed her heart," Deb told reporters.

He further stated that Banerjee lacks the natural tenderness typically associated with Indian women, noting, "We cannot imagine such conduct from an Indian woman, as women generally possess maternal affection and a spirit of service."

The former Tripura Chief Minister strengthened his criticism by explicitly comparing Banerjee to Mir Jafar, who betrayed Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah during the historic 1757 Battle of Plassey.

"Mir Jafar tarnished his name so thoroughly that no Muslim uses it anymore. She has done the same. No one will want to name their daughter 'Mamata' in the future," Deb asserted, adding that Bengal requires liberation from such leadership.

Recently appointed as co-incharge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for West Bengal's upcoming 2026 assembly elections, Deb claimed that citizens are eager to end what he described as "unlawful activities and deep-rooted corruption."

He also accused Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee of connections to land mafias.

"The current struggle in Bengal aims to restore human values and free the state from these demons," Deb concluded.
