According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), nationwide sales have surpassed Rs 10,000 crore, with mobile phones, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners dominating the market. Young consumers have been particularly active in upgrading their smartphones during this period.

Government statistics reveal that electronics production is projected to increase dramatically from Rs 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25. Mobile phone manufacturing alone has seen exponential growth from Rs 18,000 crore to Rs 5.45 lakh crore, establishing India as the world's second-largest mobile phone producer.

Export figures are equally impressive, expected to rise 127-fold to Rs 2 lakh crore by 2024-25. Smartphone exports specifically are forecasted to reach Rs 1 lakh crore in the first five months of 2025-26, representing a 55 percent year-on-year increase.

Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that sales during this Navratri festival increased by 20-25 percent compared to the previous year, indicating growing consumer confidence in the market.

The festive sales surge has further accelerated India's electronics manufacturing sector, which now employs over 2.5 million people and is expanding at double-digit growth rates, according to CAIT. Government initiatives such as 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' have positioned India as an emerging global manufacturing hub, with one major international company now producing 20 percent of its total output in India.

Additionally, smartphone exports to the United States have risen significantly, further solidifying India's position in the global electronics market.
