The Delhi Fire Services responded to 269 emergency calls during Diwali night, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.

Fortunately, no major accidents resulting in fatalities or significant injuries were documented throughout the festive night, the official confirmed.

A senior DFS officer explained that the department maintained heightened vigilance during the entire festival, with all fire stations and quick response teams strategically positioned across the city.

"We managed 269 fire calls until midnight. Thankfully, no major incidents were reported," stated the officer.

The majority of emergency calls concerned minor fires triggered by firecrackers and traditional oil lamps (diyas). In preparation for the festival, the DFS had previously cancelled all staff leave and ensured that all vehicles and firefighting equipment underwent thorough inspection and remained ready for immediate deployment.

The officer mentioned that comprehensive planning had been implemented beforehand to safeguard public safety during the festive celebrations.

"The Delhi Fire Services fulfills a critical function during Diwali by addressing fire-related incidents and ensuring citizen safety," the officer remarked, adding that in the previous year, the DFS had handled over 200 calls on Diwali night.
