Tragic Fratricide in Jharkhand: Man Runs Truck Over Brother in Fatal Loan Payment Dispute

In a shocking incident in Jharkhand's Deoghar district, a man allegedly killed his younger brother by running him over with a truck following a heated dispute over loan installment payments on Sunday.

The tragic event occurred around midday in the Devipur police station jurisdiction when the accused, Sanjeet Jaiswal (42), reportedly drove his truck directly over his brother Bittu (35), who was washing his motorcycle near a roadside eatery on Chaudharidih Main Road.

After the incident, Sanjeet abandoned his truck and fled the scene, according to police reports.

"Initial investigations indicate that the brothers had been engaged in an ongoing conflict regarding EMI payments for a truck purchased under Bittu's name. Sanjeet, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident, immediately fled after committing the act," explained Devipur police station officer-in-charge Sandip Krishna to PTI.

Police further revealed that family members described Sanjeet as the second of seven brothers, while the victim Bittu was the fifth sibling. Bittu had previously helped Sanjeet acquire a mini truck to support his livelihood, but this arrangement led to frequent disagreements over the vehicle's loan payments.

"Despite Bittu's numerous requests, Sanjeet consistently refused to pay the outstanding installments. On Sunday morning, while Bittu was cleaning his motorcycle outside his eatery business, Sanjeet, who had been consuming alcohol since early morning, suddenly started his truck and deliberately ran over his brother," Officer Krishna detailed.

Authorities have transferred the victim's body to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

A police spokesperson confirmed, "We have launched an extensive search operation for the accused and expect to apprehend him shortly."
