In a tragic incident on Monday, Deepak Gupta, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant, lost his life while attempting to stop cattle smugglers in Uttar Pradesh.
The Uttar Pradesh Police has made significant progress in the investigation, arresting one suspect following an encounter in Kushinagar. The arrested individual, identified as Rahim, sustained a leg injury during the police confrontation. Additionally, two other suspects have been taken into custody for questioning.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 3 am on Monday when cattle smugglers arrived in two vehicles and began stealing animals from local sheds. When residents became aware of the theft, they raised an alarm, prompting villagers including Deepak to pursue the fleeing criminals.
During the chase, the smugglers reportedly pulled Deepak into their vehicle and assaulted him. His body was later discovered approximately 4 kilometers from his residence with a severe head injury.
While local residents claim Deepak was shot, police investigators believe his fatal injury may have resulted from being pushed from the moving vehicle.
Raj Karan Nayyar, Senior Superintendent of Police in Gorakhpur, stated that another suspect, Ajab Hussain, was apprehended by villagers and is currently receiving medical treatment. Two additional suspects, identified as Chhotu and Raju, have been taken into custody for interrogation.
