A tragic accident occurred in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district when a speeding mini truck carrying around 40 pilgrimage returnees plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge in the Chandsaili ghat section. The crash claimed eight lives and left 15 injured, with authorities filing charges against the driver for negligent and rash driving.

The mini truck plummeted into a 200-foot-deep gorge, according to officials.

Mumbai:

Police reported that at least eight individuals lost their lives and 15 others sustained injuries when a speeding mini truck plunged into a gorge in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district on Saturday.

The accident took place around 10:30 am in the Chandsaili ghat section within the Taloda police station jurisdiction.

An official stated that a mini truck carrying approximately 40 passengers was returning from a pilgrimage site when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The mini truck then fell into a 200-foot-deep gorge, the official added.

Eight passengers died in the accident, while 15 others were injured.

The injured individuals, including the mini truck driver, are currently receiving treatment at the sub-district hospital and Civil Hospital in Nandurbar.

Police have identified the deceased as Ganesh Bhill, Bhushan Gosavi, Pawan Mistari, Bapu Dhangar, Chetan Patil, Yogesh Thakare, Rahul Mistari, and Hiralal Bhill.

A case has been registered against the driver, Vilas Desle, for negligent and rash driving, with investigations into the incident currently underway.
