A devastating fire in Indore claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy and left five family members injured when a short circuit ignited flammable scrap materials stored in a three-story residence. The narrow building's single entrance and lack of ventilation contributed to severe smoke accumulation, causing suffocation despite no burn injuries. Indore:

A tragic incident occurred in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh during the early hours of Saturday when an 11-year-old boy lost his life due to suffocation and five family members sustained injuries following a house fire.

According to Anil Gupta, station house officer of the Juni Indore police station, the blaze originated around 2:15 am from an electrical short circuit at a three-story building owned by a scrap dealer.

The officer explained that scrap materials, primarily foam and sponge, were stored in the front section of the property, while the family resided in the back portion.

"The fire spread quickly because of the highly flammable foam and sponge materials, engulfing the entire structure and generating dense black smoke throughout," Gupta informed PTI.

He noted that the narrow building had only a single entrance and lacked any outlets for smoke ventilation.

"Six family members residing on the first floor became unconscious from smoke inhalation, though they didn't suffer any burn injuries," he further stated.

Police and firefighters rescued the occupants and transported them to a nearby medical facility, where physicians pronounced the 11-year-old boy deceased, the official reported.

He added that the remaining five individuals—a couple, their two daughters, and a son—were receiving medical treatment, with four of them requiring life support assistance.

Gupta mentioned that emergency responders also safely evacuated another family of four from the second floor by climbing a tree, and confirmed that authorities would investigate the incident thoroughly.
