A doctor from Noida has filed serious allegations against her husband, a Karnataka-cadre IPS officer, claiming dowry harassment and domestic violence.
The Noida-based female doctor has registered an FIR against her husband, who serves as a 2019-batch IPS officer in Bengaluru, along with six other individuals including his family members.
Police officials confirmed on Saturday that Kriti Singh, residing in Sector 128 of Noida, filed the complaint against her husband Shivanshu Rajput and his relatives, including his parents, brother, sister-in-law, and two friends.
Bhupendra Kumar, Station In-charge of Sector 126 Police Station, informed PTI that the case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, specifically sections 85, 115(2), 352, 351(2), 3(5), and 316(2), as well as sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
According to her extensive 41-page complaint submitted on October 16, Singh has alleged continuous harassment since her marriage in December 2021, which was celebrated at a five-star hotel in Agra. The couple now has a toddler son who is one-and-a-half years old.
Singh claims that despite her family spending over Rs 2 crore on the wedding ceremony, including jewelry and various expenses, her in-laws persistently demanded additional dowry. Her complaint further alleges that her IPS officer husband maintained relationships with other women and threatened to leave her when she confronted him about these affairs.
The Station In-charge added, "The investigation is currently in progress, and statements from both the complainant and the accused parties will be recorded soon."
