"Trust, Belonging, Dedication": Amit Shah Shares PM Modi's Greatest Teaching
Home Minister Amit Shah commemorated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday by sharing a meaningful anecdote illustrating the PM's lifelong dedication to prioritizing party workers above himself.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Shah, one of PM Modi's closest confidants, related an experience that has profoundly influenced him throughout his political career.
The Home Minister recounted a journey he took with PM Modi from Ahmedabad to Rajkot many years ago. "It was approximately 8:30 in the evening, and Modi ji typically has his dinner at a party worker's residence," Shah explained.
During this particular trip, PM Modi suggested they make a stop at Suryanagar, where a BJP worker operated a roadside dhaba (food stall). "He halted the car there and we all sat down for a meal," Shah described.
#MyModiStory pic.twitter.com/qAhS5tVrJd
— Amit Shah (@AmitShah) September 16, 2025Mr Shah candidly admitted he initially misinterpreted the purpose of the stop. "I thought to myself, 'Good, he is hungry too. Now, we will also get something to eat,'" he recalled with a smile. However, while Shah enjoyed a complete meal, PM Modi consumed only some fruit and a few wafers.
"Later that evening, I realized he hadn't eaten much," Shah continued. "I discovered that the car was waiting for our other karyakartas (party workers)."
Shah revealed that PM Modi had deliberately postponed his own dinner until all accompanying party workers had been fed.
Reflecting on this experience, the Home Minister emphasized that this was more than a simple gesture of courtesy—it was a "sensitive lesson that, within an organization, one must prioritize the workers before oneself."
Shah added, "His [Narendra Modi] teaching has now become an integral part of my life. Trust, a sense of belonging, and dedication—these constitute the essence of an organization and represent Modi ji's greatest lesson."
The Home Minister acknowledged how this incident has shaped his own leadership approach. "When I remember this episode, I too begin thinking like a manager, wondering whether everyone has eaten. Even when I'm dining at someone's home and that person is standing nearby, that concern automatically becomes part of my work ethic," he concluded.
