In Patna, Amit Shah Punches Holes In Tejashwi Yadav's Government Jobs Promise

Patna:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his three-day Bihar visit ahead of the assembly election, criticized both Rashtriya Janata Dal's Tejashwi Yadav and Congress's Rahul Gandhi. Shah questioned the feasibility of Yadav's promise to provide government employment to a member from every household in Bihar, expressing doubts about the financial viability of such an ambitious plan.

While addressing the gathering in Patna, Shah dismissed Tejashwi Yadav's employment guarantee as impractical, challenging how the RJD leader intended to fund such a comprehensive scheme.

Shah reserved stronger criticism for Rahul Gandhi, remarking that he "can lead any number of 'save infiltrator yatras'." The Home Minister firmly stated that the BJP would not permit illegal immigrants to remain in the country.

Earlier this month, Tejashwi Yadav had made a bold commitment regarding government jobs, promising that his administration would ensure employment for at least one member of every family in Bihar. He pledged to introduce legislation within 20 days of forming government to implement this plan, declaring "There will be no home in Bihar without a job." This promise has resonated strongly in a state with significant unemployment challenges.

Yadav highlighted that while the ruling JDU-BJP coalition was merely offering unemployment allowances rather than actual jobs, his pledge represented a genuine commitment, stating, "This can be done. This is no jumlebaazi."

The announcement has faced scrutiny from various quarters, with critics pointing to the state's limited financial resources to sustain such an extensive employment program. However, Yadav defended his promise by referencing his previous track record as Deputy Chief Minister during the Grand Alliance government with Nitish Kumar, claiming that 3 lakh youth were employed within months during his tenure.

Shah's remarks about Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra echo the BJP's allegations that the Congress march is primarily aimed at protecting illegal immigrants from being removed from voter lists.

The Bihar assembly election will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14 across all 243 constituencies in the eastern state.
