A significant security alert occurred in Chennai on Thursday evening when an anonymous email claimed a bomb had been planted at Vice President CP Radhakrishnan's Mylapore residence. Security forces quickly responded by cordoning off the area and conducting extensive searches, ultimately determining the threat was a hoax as no explosive devices were discovered.

According to police sources, the threatening email was received by Chennai police authorities yesterday evening, specifically targeting the vice president's home in Mylapore. Investigators discovered that this particular residence has not been occupied recently. As a precautionary measure, security teams also searched his current Poes Garden residence. Following thorough examinations by bomb disposal specialists and canine units, both properties were declared secure.

This incident is part of a concerning trend of email bomb threats directed at prominent individuals, educational institutions, media organizations, technology companies, and other establishments throughout Chennai. These threats have necessitated multiple evacuations in recent months, causing substantial disruptions to public activities and institutional operations.

In recent incidents, actor and politician Vijay received two similar threatening emails, resulting in increased security measures. In one case, authorities apprehended a hotel employee for sending a false threat.

High-ranking officials have confirmed ongoing efforts to identify the sources of these emails, which frequently utilize fraudulent accounts or international servers to conceal the senders' identities. "We cannot afford to dismiss any threat," stated one officer, noting that each incident triggers a complete security protocol implementation as standard procedure.
