Polling in Bihar will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and November 11.
The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, released its first list of 14 candidates on Wednesday for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. This announcement covers nearly half of the 29 seats allocated to the party as part of the NDA's final seat-sharing arrangement.
According to the official list, the party has nominated Raju Tiwari for Govindganj constituency, Sanjay Kumar Singh for Simri Bakhtiyarpur, and Vishnu Dev Paswan for Darouli. Seemant Mrinal will contest from Garkha, while Surendra Kumar has been fielded from Sahebpur Kamal. Sanjay Kumar and Babulal Shaurya have been selected for Bakhri and Parbatta constituencies respectively.
Additionally, Mithun Kumar will represent the party from Nathnagar, Sunil Kumar from Paliganj, and Hulas Pandey from Brahmpur. The list also includes Rajiv Ranjan Singh for Dehri, Sangita Devi for Balrampur, Rani Kumari for Makhdumpur, and Prakash Chandra for Obra constituency.
In related developments, BJP, another NDA ally, has announced its second list featuring 12 candidates for the Bihar elections. This brings their total declared candidates to 83 out of their allocated 101 seats. Notable candidates include folk singer Maithili Thakur, who will contest from Alinagar in Darbhanga, and former IPS officer Anand Mishra, who has been fielded from Buxar. Mishra previously served as the Youth Wing president in Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj movement.
Janata Dal (United), also part of the NDA alliance, has published its first list of 57 candidates. The selections were approved by the party's National President, Nitish Kumar. Observers have noted that JD(U)'s initial list does not include any Muslim candidates.
Meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustan Awam Morcha (Secular) announced six candidates on Tuesday, with four being sitting MLAs.
While the National Democratic Alliance has finalized its seat distribution among coalition members, the opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance is still conducting meetings to reach a consensus on seat allocation.
The NDA's seat-sharing arrangement, finalized on Sunday, allocates 101 seats each to BJP and JD(U), 29 seats to Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and 6 seats each to Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).
The Bihar Assembly elections for all 243 seats will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.
