Karnataka Lokayukta Seizes Rs 381 Crore in Massive Anti-Corruption Raid Against 12 Government Officials

Karnataka Lokayukta Police implemented state-wide raids targeting 12 government officials suspected of accumulating wealth disproportionate to their known income sources.
The operations were executed on October 14, 2025, spanning 48 different locations including the officials' homes, workplaces, and properties connected to them and their family members.
Initial assessments from these search operations have uncovered an enormous sum of Rs 381.08 crore in combined assets, comprising land parcels, residential properties, cash reserves, jewelry collections, vehicles, and various other movable and immovable possessions.
Notable individuals with the highest asset seizures included:
V. Sumangala, Director of the State School Education, Research and Training in Bengaluru, with assets valued at Rs 73.25 crore.
N. Chandrashekar, Assistant Director of Agriculture in Chitradurga, possessing assets worth Rs 51.41 crore.
N.K. Gangamarigowda, Surveyor at KIADB in Bengaluru Rural, with assets estimated at Rs 46.65 crore.
Dhoolappa, Assistant Director of the Horticulture Department in Bidar, holding assets totaling Rs 33.93 crore.
Manjunatha G, Medical Officer at Mallasandra Maternity Hospital in Bengaluru, with assets valued at Rs 32.41 crore.
Additional officers from districts including Davanagere, Haveri, Udupi, Bagalakote, and Hassan were discovered with assets ranging between Rs 16 crore and Rs 23 crore.
Officials revealed that the confiscated wealth encompasses large agricultural landholdings, multiple residential and commercial properties, gold jewelry, luxury vehicles, mutual fund investments, and substantial cash reserves.
A representative from the Lokayukta has confirmed that investigations are continuing to verify the origins of these assets and determine the full extent of illegal enrichment.
