LG India's Managing Director Hong Ju Jeon Impresses With Fluent Hindi Speech at Historic NSE Listing

Hong Ju Jeon, appointed as the managing director of LG Electronics India in January 2023, has captured significant attention across social media platforms for his impressive Hindi speech during LG's debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday, October 14.

The company experienced a remarkable stock market entrance, with shares surging up to 50 percent after its initial public offering (IPO) garnered the strongest demand for any Indian IPO since 2008.

During the listing ceremony, Hong Ju delivered his entire address in Hindi, beginning with the traditional greeting "Namaste" before expressing gratitude to NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan, the Indian government, and LG Electronics' partners for their support and belief in the company's vision.

"Namaste, mananiye atheeti, vishesh roop se NSE CEO, Shree Ashish Chauhan ji. Iss atihasik avsar par, LG Electronics ke saath shaamil hone ke lie, aap sabhi ka dhanyavaad," Hong Ju stated in his address, which translates to "Namaste, honorable guests, especially NSE CEO Mr. Ashish Chauhan. A big thank you to all of you for being part of this historic moment for LG Electronics."

He further added, "Aant me mai Bharat sarakar, SEBI, NSE aur humare partners ko bhi tahe dil se dhanyavad karta hu," expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government, SEBI, NSE, and LG's partners.

The video of his speech quickly went viral online, with many social media users expressing surprise and admiration for his effort to speak in Hindi rather than choosing to deliver his address in English or his native Korean language.

One user commented, "LG MD giving his IPO address in Hindi. Rare for a South Korean company chief...signs of going local completely," while another remarked, "If my IPO was subscribed 50x+ in South Korea, you can bet I will be speaking fluent Korean, too."

A third user described the moment as "very wholesome," noting that Hong Ju Jeon could have easily chosen to speak in Korean or English but opted for Hindi instead.

Under Hong Ju Jeon's leadership since January 2023, the LG IPO has become one of the most significant public offerings of 2025, making history as the first IPO in India to exceed Rs 4 lakh crore in total subscription value.

The Rs 11,607 crore IPO was structured as a complete Offer-for-Sale by the Korean parent company, LG Electronics Inc. No fresh capital was raised for LG India's operations, meaning all proceeds from the IPO were directed to the selling shareholder.
