Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 Crore Estate Battle: Karisma Kapoor's Children Challenge Will Citing Forgery Evidence

The Delhi High Court continued its examination on Tuesday into the contentious inheritance dispute surrounding businessman Sunjay Kapur's estimated Rs 30,000 crore fortune.

The legal battle revolves around Kapur's will, which bequeaths his personal estate to his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur. This document has been challenged by Samaira and Kiaan, his children from his second marriage to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, who assert that the will is fraudulent.

During today's proceedings, senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor's children, highlighted that even Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother, had been marginalized in the disputed will's provisions.

"Only Priya Kapur benefits from this forged will," Jethmalani argued before the court.

He further identified what he described as suspicious inconsistencies in the will's language, particularly noting the use of feminine pronouns when referring to Sunjay Kapur.

"When you find 'she' and 'her' appearing in four different places... it is unbelievable that Sunjay Kapur, with all his knowledge, could have drafted this," Jethmalani stated.

"There are contradictions and weaknesses throughout the entire will," he continued, adding, "If Sunjay Kapur genuinely intended to leave all personal assets exclusively to his wife, what would a man in his position do?"

"He would have registered the will! To prevent any contestation! Yet it remains unregistered!"

This complex legal dispute has now extended across three hearings, beginning with Jethmalani's submissions on behalf of Samaira and Kiaan.

In the previous hearing, he contended that the will had been falsified to disinherit Sunjay Kapur's children.

He argued there was "something very secretive about this will," questioning why one son's name was misspelled and the daughter's address incorrectly recorded.

"These errors are completely uncharacteristic of Sunjay Kapur," he had previously stated.

Last week's hearing featured a dramatic courtroom confrontation when Priya Kapur was compared to Cinderella's stepmother. In a direct attack, Jethmalani accused her of being "greedy."

"She received 60 percent of the assets and allocated 12 percent to her son. She's also getting 75 percent of the trust... yet she remains focused solely on her personal assets."
