A tragic incident occurred in south Delhi's Sangam Vihar area where an 11-year-old boy lost his life after being struck by a dumper truck, police reported on Monday.

The fatal accident happened on Saturday near Dhawan Farm in Sangam Vihar. The young victim, who worked as a vegetable vendor, was riding his bicycle when the incident took place.

According to a senior police officer, the boy was crossing a road when a dumper truck hit him. The child's head was crushed under the rear wheel of the truck, resulting in his immediate death.

Following the collision, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene.

Police were alerted about the accident around 11 am. Upon reaching the location, authorities learned that the boy had already been transported to Majedia Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead on arrival.

The victim's body has been sent for postmortem examination. Law enforcement has seized the dumper truck involved in the accident.

A case has been registered at Sangam Vihar police station under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. Police are actively working to locate and apprehend the driver who fled the scene.
