Forest authorities have urged residents to avoid venturing out alone after dark following a fatal leopard attack in Maharashtra.

A tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra's Beed district where a 36-year-old farmer lost his life in a leopard attack, police reported on Monday.

The fatal encounter took place in the Bavi-Darewadi area within Ashti tehsil on Sunday when the victim was tending to his cattle.

Rajendra Vishwanath Golhar, who resided in Bavi village, had taken his cattle to graze in his farm during the morning hours but never returned home, according to an official statement.

Concerned villagers, suspecting a leopard attack, promptly alerted both the forest department and local authorities, which led to the immediate initiation of a search operation.

Range forest officer Amol Munde confirmed that Golhar's partially consumed remains were discovered in the fields, verifying that a leopard had indeed attacked him. The post-mortem report is still pending.

In response to this incident, police and forest authorities have issued warnings to local residents to refrain from venturing out alone after nightfall. They have also begun implementing increased patrolling measures and awareness campaigns across approximately 15 neighboring villages.
