A 59-year-old woman named Asha Rani suffered a fatal heart attack while celebrating Karwa Chauth in Punjab's Barnala. She collapsed suddenly during a dance celebration and was pronounced dead after being rushed to a hospital.

The tragic incident occurred in Chandigarh during festivities for Karwa Chauth, a Hindu festival where women fast for their husband's longevity and well-being. Asha Rani had been observing the traditional fast, where women abstain from food and water until they can view the moon, after which their husbands offer them their first sip of water.

On Friday evening, Asha Rani was accompanied by her husband Tarsem Lal and their granddaughter at a friend's residence for Karwa Chauth celebrations. While waiting for the moon to appear, the fasting women, including Asha Rani, began dancing to Punjabi music. In a tragic coincidence, the song playing contained lyrics about enjoying the present moment because tomorrow is uncertain.

Video footage shows Asha Rani, dressed in a yellow saree, dancing energetically on an illuminated floor before suddenly collapsing, causing immediate panic among fellow celebrants who rushed to her aid.

The community of Barnala has been deeply affected by this unexpected tragedy. Neighbors described Asha Rani's family as being actively involved in social work. One neighbor, Hardeep Singh, expressed, "It is unfortunate that she died on the day of Karwa Chauth. We cannot even imagine what the family is going through."

Another neighbor, Rinka Kumar, shared his disbelief: "She was dancing happily when she collapsed. We are heartbroken. A woman fasts for her husband's long life on Karwa Chauth. We can only imagine what he is going through."

Surinder Kaur Walia, also residing in the neighborhood, commented on the painful irony of the situation, noting how tragic it was for a woman to pass away while participating in a ritual meant to ensure her husband's longevity. The community has rallied to support the grieving family during this difficult time.
