Akhilesh Yadav stated that Yogi Adityanath is from Uttarakhand and should be sent back to the state.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday compared Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to an infiltrator, declaring that he is from Uttarakhand and should return to that state.
During his address to reporters at Lohia Park in Lucknow on Sunday, which marked the death anniversary of Ram Manohar Lohia, Yadav criticized the BJP for using fabricated statistics. "If one were to believe their statistics, they would be completely misled," he added.
"Those who are providing statistics about exodus... We also have infiltrators in UP. The chief minister comes from Uttarakhand. We want him sent back to Uttarakhand. He isn't just a geographical infiltrator; he's also an ideological infiltrator," Yadav asserted.
The SP chief continued, "He (Adityanath) wasn't originally a BJP member; he belonged to another organization. So when will these infiltrators be removed?" Yadav's comments follow recent statements by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who claimed certain political parties treat infiltrators as vote banks and questioned why infiltration doesn't occur along Gujarat and Rajasthan borders.
Shah delivered these remarks on Friday during a lecture commemorating Dainik Jagran's former editor-in-chief Narendra Mohan on the topic 'Infiltration (ghuspaith), demographic change and democracy'.
When asked to respond to Yadav's statements, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak told PTI that he would provide a response soon.
Yadav had visited Lohia Park to pay respects to Ram Manohar Lohia on his death anniversary. He noted that Dr. Lohia fought against injustice and irresponsibility throughout his lifetime.
"Today, we pledge to bring awareness to the issues he raised, to educate people, and to ensure economic and social dignity for everyone by following the path he showed us. Dr. Lohia advocated for the abolition of the caste system," Yadav said.
Regarding the Raebareli mob lynching case, he stated, "NCRB data clearly demonstrates that the maximum atrocities against Dalits have occurred under this government. Recently, we witnessed how a young man from the Valmiki community was killed. There is widespread injustice against Dalits and backward communities." He added that the government's claim of zero tolerance has no practical effect. "The police, whose responsibility is maintaining law and order, are occupied with filing false cases against political opponents. Consequently, women remain unsafe."
He alleged, "The BJP attempts to conceal its failures, and the chief minister tells blatant lies while seated at a white table... the white table where he meets people. The truth is that maximum harassment and other serious incidents are occurring in UP. All boundaries of corruption have been broken. Corruption exists in every department."
"The same government that once claimed it could reach Kanpur in 45 minutes now protects criminals," he remarked.
Yadav also stated, "This park (Lohia Park) was constructed during Netaji's (Mulayam Singh Yadav) era. In this government, efforts are only being made to halt progress or destroy it." Criticizing the BJP's Swadeshi rhetoric, the SP chief said, "BJP leaders speak about Swadeshi, but their hearts are with foreign interests. If they truly believed in Swadeshi, why continue trade with China? Farmers are being beaten with lathis, they aren't receiving fertilizer, and injustice is everywhere. For election funding, the government allows traders to accumulate enormous profits."
"BJP is the most casteist party. In numerous districts, there are no PDA officers. Only individuals from a particular caste are being appointed. Dalits are facing atrocities, and we will compile records of these incidents," he said.
Referring to the suicide of Y. Puran Kumar, a senior IG-rank police officer in Haryana, Yadav said, "Even today, votes are sought based on caste. This is why an IPS officer lost his life. Shoes were thrown in the Supreme Court, religious speakers were humiliated, and a young man from the Valmiki community was beaten to death. The government is only concerned with political work and fails to understand people's suffering. However, the public is now awakening. Today, as we remember Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, we pledge to spread his vision among the people and establish a PDA-led government."
