Blinkit Delivery Riders Attack Residence in Bhopal: Investigation Underway After Assault on Woman and Staff

Danish Hills Colony residents reported approximately 50 to 60 Blinkit delivery riders invaded a residence in a targeted attack.

Turmoil broke out at a residential area in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal when numerous delivery personnel from quick commerce platform Blinkit forcibly entered a residence, assaulted household staff, and behaved inappropriately toward the female homeowner.

The disturbance occurred Saturday night in the Danish Hills Colony of the Kolar area. The perpetrators escaped following the incident, and authorities are now reviewing surveillance footage to identify them.

Currently, no individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

Blinkit has not released an official statement regarding this situation. NDTV has reached out to the company for comment.

The Incident

On Saturday, a female resident of Danish Hills Colony placed an order through Blinkit, and a delivery rider subsequently arrived at her residence.

According to police reports, the disagreement began when the customer attempted to split the payment between cash and online transfer.

A dispute erupted when the delivery personnel insisted that payment be made entirely through one method—either all cash or all online. The household staff intervened and requested the rider to depart from the premises.

Rider Returns With Group For Confrontation

Agitated by the interaction, the delivery person returned to the Blinkit warehouse, gathered numerous colleagues, and came back to Danish Hills Colony.

Equipped with sticks, the group of Blinkit riders attacked two household employees standing outside the woman's residence.

Witnesses stated that during the confrontation, the riders also behaved inappropriately toward the woman and damaged property.

In conversation with NDTV, a colony resident stated, "Nearly 50 to 60 delivery boys had gathered outside, shouting and threatening residents. It was terrifying."

Following the incident, residents congregated at Kolar Police Station, demanding immediate arrests and stricter regulations for delivery personnel.

They claimed the assault appeared coordinated, with delivery workers summoned from Blinkit stores operating outside the Kolar area's jurisdiction.

FIR Filed, Search For Suspects Ongoing

Police have begun identifying suspects through surveillance footage and digital evidence.

Station Incharge Sanjay Soni confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under sections related to assault, intimidation, and abuse.

"The accused fled after the attack. No arrests have been made yet. CCTV footage is being examined, and strict action will be taken against those involved," Soni said.
