Joyti Singh actively campaigned for her husband Pawan Singh during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Jyoti Singh, wife of prominent Bhojpuri actor and BJP leader Pawan Singh, is set to participate in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as confirmed by her father Rambabu Singh on Sunday.
During a press interaction at his residence, Rambabu Singh affirmed that his daughter has made a definitive decision to contest in the Bihar polls, though specific details regarding her constituency and party affiliation remain undetermined.
"Jyoti Singh will be contesting the Assembly elections in Bihar. We will soon decide which constituency she will represent, which political party she will join, or whether she will run as an independent candidate," he stated. He further mentioned strong public support for her candidacy from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district.
Rambabu explained that "The residents of Karakat established a strong connection with Joyti when she participated in campaign activities for Pawan Singh during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections."
The Bihar Assembly, consisting of 243 members, will undergo elections in two phases scheduled for November 6 and November 11, with vote counting planned for November 14.
This political announcement coincides with reported marital tensions within the family. Rambabu has accused Pawan Singh of demonstrating "cruelty" and "dishonesty," claiming that the actor-singer has rejected all attempts at reconciliation regarding his marriage to Jyoti.
"I pleaded with him to accept my daughter, but he only referred to legal proceedings. Until a divorce is legally finalized, Jyoti maintains her right to cohabitate with her husband," Rambabu expressed.
According to Rambabu, during their last meeting approximately three months ago, Pawan Singh indicated that the matter would be resolved through court proceedings.
Meanwhile, political speculation has intensified following Jyoti's recent meeting with Jan Suraj Party leader and election strategist Prashant Kishor, suggesting a potential political alliance.
The Jan Suraaj Party has already announced candidates for 51 constituencies in the upcoming Bihar elections.
While official confirmation regarding her candidacy and party affiliation remains pending, political analysts view Jyoti's potential entry into politics as a significant addition to Bihar's electoral landscape, particularly given her connection to one of Bhojpuri cinema's most celebrated personalities.
