Tragedy at Kolkata School: Class 9 Student Dies Following Sports Event Collapse

Kolkata: A tragic incident occurred at a private international school on the southern outskirts of the city where a class 9 student died during a sports event on the school grounds.

According to police reports, Arkadeep Bag had just completed a race for selection to the upcoming annual sports event when he suddenly collapsed on Friday. The officer stated that based on the post-mortem report and information from doctors at the nearby private hospital where he was taken, Arkadeep's death was attributed to health-related issues.

The investigating officer mentioned, "We are thoroughly investigating the case. All teachers, friends, and non-teaching staff who were present at the scene are being questioned to understand the circumstances."

In an obituary post, the Principal of BDM International in Kamalgazi, Narendrapur expressed profound grief announcing the passing of Arkadeep Bag of class nine, section 14, on October 10.

The school authorities provided additional details in a statement: "Arkadeep Bag participated in a race on a 33-metre track as part of the selection process for the upcoming annual sports. After finishing first in the race, he briefly spoke with the Physical Education teacher before suddenly collapsing."

The statement further explained that immediate action was taken as the Physical Education teacher, who is certified in CPR, administered emergency care. The school nurse also attended to Arkadeep and recommended urgent medical attention at the nearest hospital. School officials promptly informed the parents and took swift action in response to the emergency.
