Authorities in Karnataka have apprehended a 22-year-old man for allegedly stealing gold and cash from a relative's residence to finance his upcoming wedding with his girlfriend.

The suspect, identified as Shreyas, had been in a romantic relationship with a woman for four years. Believing he required substantial funds to arrange their marriage, he reportedly planned and executed a burglary at the home of his relative Harish, who also happened to be his employer.

With inside knowledge that valuable jewelry and cash were stored in the residence, Shreyas allegedly orchestrated the theft to cover his wedding expenses. On September 15, he reportedly broke into Harish's home and made off with gold items.

After the homeowner filed a complaint, Bengaluru's Hebbagodi police conducted an investigation that led to Shreyas's arrest. Law enforcement officials successfully recovered 416 grams of gold and Rs 3.46 lakh in cash, with the total value of recovered items estimated at approximately Rs 47 lakh.

Following the incident, authorities have formally registered a case at the local police station.
