DK Rao: Chhota Rajan Associate Arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch in Major Extortion Case

DK Rao, who serves as a close associate of incarcerated gangster Chhota Rajan, was apprehended on Friday by the Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with an extortion and threat case, according to police reports.

The arrest took place outside the sessions court complex in south Mumbai on Friday evening, as confirmed by police officials.

"He had attended a court hearing when he was taken into custody alongside his associates Anil Sing and Mimit Ghuta. According to the case details, the complainant had provided Rs 1.5 crore to a builder who failed to return the money. Subsequently, the builder enlisted Rao to intimidate the complainant. Rao will face court proceedings on Saturday," explained a police official.

Previously in January, Rao and six of his associates were detained by the Crime Branch for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 2.5 crore from a hotelier operating in the western region of the city.
