Vegetarian Bodybuilder and Actor Varinder Ghuman Dies at 41 From Sudden Heart Attack

Renowned professional bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman, aged 41, passed away on Thursday following a heart attack, according to his family.
Yadvinder Singh, Ghuman's manager, reported that the actor had visited a private hospital in Amritsar seeking treatment for shoulder pain when the incident occurred.
Amanjot Singh Ghuman, the actor's nephew, informed reporters in Jalandhar that his uncle suffered a fatal heart attack while at the hospital during the evening hours.
Ghuman had collaborated with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 2023 film 'Tiger-3' and appeared in other Hindi productions including 'Roar: Tigers of Sundarbans' (2014) and 'Marjaavan' (2019). He also starred in the Punjabi film 'Kabaddi Once Again' in 2012.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall, Ghuman achieved significant success in bodybuilding, winning the Mr India title in 2009 and securing second place in the Mr Asia competition.
Originally from Gurdaspur, he had been residing in Jalandhar where he owned and operated a gym. Widely known as a "vegetarian bodybuilder," Ghuman was deeply committed to fitness and regularly shared his workout routines with followers on Instagram.
Prior to his untimely death, he had expressed political aspirations, indicating his desire to contest the Punjab assembly elections in 2027.
Politicians across the spectrum have expressed condolences. Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu referred to Ghuman as the "pride of Punjab" and described his death as an "irreparable loss for the country," noting how he "set new standards in the world of fitness with his hard work and vegetarian lifestyle."
Congress MP and former deputy chief minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa acknowledged Ghuman's contributions, stating, "He brought glory to Punjab with his hard work, discipline, and talent."
Congress MLA Pargat Singh expressed his pain upon learning of Ghuman's passing, highlighting that he "was a devoted vegetarian, built his body with discipline and grace."
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also shared his grief, saying, "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the untimely passing of international bodybuilder Varinder Ghuman. Varinder worked very hard and achieved great heights in his life; he was an inspiration for our youth."
