Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party Fields Backward Castes and Former Bureaucrats in Bihar Election Strategy

Election strategist-turned politician Prashant Kishor has announced his Jan Suraaj Party will contest every constituency in Bihar's upcoming assembly election, with a strong focus on backward caste candidates. Sources reveal that Kishor's campaign platform centers on creating a corruption-free, developed Bihar, with candidates carefully selected for their untarnished reputations, including many former bureaucrats.

The Jan Suraaj Party is scheduled to release its inaugural candidate list on October 9. This comprehensive roster includes numerous professionals from fields such as law, medicine, and academia. According to sources, approximately 25 former government officials will also be contesting under the party banner.

Kishor himself has suggested he might run for office, stating in a recent interview, "Deliberations are ongoing within the party, and if a collective decision is made that I should enter the electoral race, then as I previously mentioned, it would be from either Kargahar or Raghopur."

The Kargahar constituency, located in Rohtas district, is currently represented by Congress member Santosh Kumar Mishra. Raghopur is considered the stronghold of Lalu Yadav's family, with his son Tejashwi Yadav serving as the sitting MLA.

According to party insiders, senior leadership has not yet reached agreement regarding Kishor's candidacy. Similar uncertainty surrounds the potential candidacy of former MLA and party general secretary Kishore Kumar Munna.

Key candidates in Prashant Kishor's electoral strategy include:

KC Sinha for Kumhrar: The renowned mathematician has served as Vice Chancellor at several universities and authored over 70 books. His mathematics textbooks have been standard curriculum in Bihar schools for more than three decades, giving him strong public recognition. Already associated with Jan Suraaj, Sinha will contest from Patna's Kumhrar constituency.

YB Giri for Manjhi: A senior Patna High Court advocate, Giri has represented clients in high-profile cases, including alleged examination paper leaks at the state public service commission. He was instrumental in bringing former Janata Dal (United) national president RCP Singh into the party and will contest from Manjhi constituency.

Rambali Chandravanshi for Kurtha: This former Legislative Council member previously belonged to Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal before joining Jan Suraaj after his membership was revoked last year. As a member of the Extremely Backward Castes—a demographic prioritized by Jan Suraaj—Chandravanshi has organized caste conferences throughout the state to strengthen public connections.

JP Singh for Chapra: A former senior police officer from Himachal Pradesh, Singh joined Jan Suraaj after taking voluntary retirement. The 2000-batch IPS officer has been actively working in Chapra for approximately a year and will contest from that constituency.

Dr. BB Prasad for Dhaka: Prasad operates a medical clinic in Motihari alongside his wife, who is also a physician. The couple has extensive involvement in community service. They belong to the Extremely Backward Castes and have been Jan Suraaj supporters for some time. Prasad will contest from Dhaka constituency.

Dr. AK Das for Muzaffarpur: A respected physician from Muzaffarpur belonging to the Kayastha caste, Dr. Das has recently become politically active and will contest from Muzaffarpur constituency.

RK Mishra: The former Director General of Home Guard has been with Jan Suraaj since its formation. Previously rumored to contest in the last assembly election, Mishra has recruited numerous retired bureaucrats to the party. While he will be contesting in the upcoming election, his constituency has not yet been finalized.
