Geetanjali Angmo announced on Wednesday that she had visited her husband, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently detained in Jodhpur jail following the violent incidents in Leh on September 24.
According to a post Angmo shared on X just after midnight, she met Wangchuk on Tuesday accompanied by lawyer Ritam Khare.
Angmo revealed that Wangchuk's legal team has obtained the detention order and plans to challenge it in court.
"His spirit is undaunted. His commitment resolute! His resilience intact! He conveys heartfelt thanks to all for their support and solidarity," Angmo wrote in her social media post.
The official document outlines the allegations against Wangchuk and explains the reasoning behind invoking the National Security Act against him.
Prior to Angmo's visit, Wangchuk's brother Tsetan Dorje had also visited him in jail on Saturday alongside attorney Mustafa Haji.
Following that visit, Haji shared on X that Wangchuk has called for an independent judicial investigation into the deaths of four individuals during last month's protests.
Haji noted that Wangchuk expressed willingness to remain incarcerated until such an inquiry is conducted.
Geetanjali Angmo has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court seeking her husband's release, with a hearing scheduled for October 14.
Wangchuk was detained under the National Security Act in the aftermath of violent clashes in Ladakh during demonstrations demanding statehood and inclusion of the Union Territory under the Sixth Schedule.
Following his detention, he was initially taken to Delhi before being transferred to Jodhpur Central Jail on September 26.
