Security Forces Engage in Counter-Terrorism Operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri District

A coordinated counter-terrorism operation is underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district after militants opened fire on police forces conducting a search operation. Indian Army, police, and CRPF have established a security cordon in the Beeranthub area while continuing efforts to neutralize the threat in a region that has seen increased militant activity since 2021.

Encounter Breaks Out Between Police, Terrorists In J&K, Army Rushed To Spot

An armed confrontation erupted between security personnel and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Tuesday.

The skirmish began when terrorists fired upon a police unit conducting search operations following intelligence about suspicious individual movements. This incident led to an exchange of gunfire between the police's special operations group and the militants in the Beeranthub area of Rajouri.

Inspector General of Police (Jammu zone) Bhim Sen Tuti confirmed that additional forces have been deployed to the area, with a coordinated operation now underway involving the Indian Army, police, and CRPF to locate and neutralize the terrorists.

"Exchange of fire took place between terrorists and SOG (Special Operations Group) team in Beeranthub area, PS Kandi, Rajouri. Joint parties of Police, Army and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area," Tuti announced via a statement on X.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time. The location remains under strict security perimeter with ongoing search operations continuing.

In a related development, security forces have also initiated a cordon and search operation in the Dharni top area of Udhampur district.

The Poonch-Rajouri region has been significantly affected by terrorist activities, experiencing multiple attacks and confrontations since October 2021.
