A 17-year-old engineering student died by suicide at his college campus after sharing his life frustrations on social media, police reported on Tuesday.

Ayush Chavan, who studied at an engineering college on Gangapur Road in Nashik, jumped from the 5th floor of his college building around 7:45 am on October 4. Despite being rushed to a private hospital with severe head and chest injuries, he passed away during treatment.

Police noted that before taking this extreme step, Chavan had posted his intentions on Instagram, writing: "Friends, this is the last time. I don't have any dreams or aims to achieve in life. I am fed up with my life. So, signing off from life".

A case of accidental death has been registered at Gangapur police station.
