Tragic Death of Senior IPS Officer Puran Kumar: Haryana ADGP Dies by Suicide in Chandigarh Residence

Puran Kumar, a senior Haryana IPS officer, was found deceased after taking his own life at his residence in Sector 11, Chandigarh. Officials confirmed that the officer died by shooting himself.
Police authorities have arrived at the location to investigate the incident. The motive behind this tragic action remains unclear at this time.
Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur informed reporters, "Information was received at Sector 11 police station around 1:30 pm. The SHO and team conducted an inspection of the scene where the reported suicide occurred. The deceased has been identified as Puran Kumar, an IPS officer."
When questioned about the presence of a suicide note, SSP Kaur stated, "A Central Forensic Science Laboratory team is currently examining the scene and investigations are ongoing."
Kumar, a 2001 batch officer, held the prestigious rank of Additional Director General of Police within the Indian Police Service. He had recently been assigned to the Police Training Centre in Sunaria, Rohtak, on September 29.
The officer's spouse, Aman P Kumar, serves as an IAS officer and is presently on an official assignment in Japan. She is scheduled to return to India tomorrow evening.
