Lucknow:

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati expressed her approval on Monday regarding the announcement of Bihar's two-phase assembly elections, emphasizing that the party intends to contest nearly all constituencies independently.

The Bihar assembly elections will be conducted in two phases, with voting scheduled for November 6 and 11, followed by vote counting on November 14, as announced by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in New Delhi on Monday.

In her Hindi post on X, Mayawati stated, "I welcome the Election Commission of India's announcement made today to hold the much-anticipated Bihar Assembly general elections in two phases on November 6 and 11." She expressed hope that the Election Commission would implement stringent and effective measures to ensure a genuinely free and fair voting process, free from money and muscle power influences, in accordance with public wishes, and protected from misuse of police and government resources.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also made a special appeal to Bihar citizens to participate enthusiastically in this democratic celebration by exercising their fundamental constitutional right to vote—a right bestowed upon every citizen by revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar—in a peaceful manner.

"It is noteworthy that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will contest almost all the seats in this Bihar assembly election on its own strength. For this purpose, party members at all levels have been actively preparing for the elections, and under the leadership of the party's national convener, Mr. Akash Anand, the 'Sarvajan Hitaya Jagran Yatra' has also been successfully organised," Mayawati posted on X.

She expressed confidence that Bihar's citizens would ensure BSP candidates' success by voting for the "elephant" election symbol in support of 'Sarvajan Hitaya and Sarvajan Sukhaya,' promoting an ideal "rule of law by law" system in their state.

The entire election process will conclude by November 16.

"Bihar elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. Counting of votes will be done on November 14," Kumar announced at a press conference.

"It is mandatory to complete counting of postal ballots before the last two rounds of counting of votes," he added.

The first phase will see voting in 121 assembly constituencies, while the second phase will cover 122 assembly constituencies.
