Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two cutting-edge international airports this month. The Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airport (Jewar) will feature facilities comparable to world-class aviation centers such as London's Heathrow and New York airports.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already granted an aerodrome license for the Navi Mumbai Airport, while Noida Airport's license is expected to be issued soon.

PM Modi will officially inaugurate the Navi Mumbai Airport on Wednesday. This international airport is engineered to serve both domestic and international travelers with modern amenities.

Covering 1,160 hectares, the Navi Mumbai International Airport has been developed at a cost of Rs 19,647 crore. Built in five phases, its initial phase can accommodate two crore passengers annually and handle five lakh tons of cargo. At full capacity, the airport will house four terminals with a total capacity of nine crore passengers yearly and 3.25 million tons of cargo annually.

The facility includes a 3,700-metre runway capable of accommodating large commercial aircraft, contemporary passenger terminals, and sophisticated air traffic control systems.

Major airlines including Air India, Indigo, and Akasa Air are preparing to operate flights from Navi Mumbai. The airport is a joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Limited (74 percent stake) and the Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra.

On October 2, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani inspected preparations for flight operations at Navi Mumbai Airport. Commercial flights are anticipated to commence from December this year.

The Noida International Airport will be inaugurated by PM Modi on October 30. It will function as a significant aviation hub for the National Capital Region (NCR). Flight operations are expected to begin within 45 days of the inauguration, with its first phase comprising one runway and one terminal, serving 1.2 crore passengers annually.

Noida International Airport will be connected by six roads and a rapid rail-cum-metro, as well as pod taxis. Once operational, it will function under the code 'DXN'.

When fully completed, the airport will have a total annual capacity of seven crore passengers, substantially reducing air traffic congestion in the NCR. It is constructed at a cost of $2 billion.

The project is being developed and operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a 100 percent subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG.

Ticket bookings for flights from Navi Mumbai Airport have already begun, while bookings for travel from Noida Airport are expected to open by late November or early December.
