Hyderabad Police Raid Instagram-Promoted 'Trap House Party', Detain 65 Including Minors for Drug Consumption

In a significant operation against illicit drug activities, the Rajendranagar Special Operations Team police conducted a raid on the Oaks Farmhouse in Moinabad town, Telangana. Authorities detained 65 individuals who had gathered for an event marketed as a 'Trap House Party' through Instagram.

The police operation was initiated based on information suggesting drug consumption at the venue. Upon investigation, officers found the 65 attendees engaged in intoxication, including 22 minors. The group comprised 12 females, with five being underage.

Blood testing confirmed marijuana usage by two individuals: Ishaan, identified as the event organizer, and another minor whose identity remains protected. Inspector G Pawan Kumar Reddy of Moinabad informed NDTV that Ishaan studies at a private college as a second-year student, arrived in India in 2024, and is believed to regularly consume narcotic substances. His father currently resides in Canada.

During the raid, authorities confiscated 10 bottles of imported alcohol from the premises.

The event was promoted via an Instagram profile called "Trap House. 9MM," reportedly managed by a Hyderabad DJ. Marketing materials indicated the party would run from 6 PM until 2 AM on Saturday, promising attendees "an experience of joy you've never had in your life".

Tickets were priced at Rs 1600 for individuals and Rs 2800 for couples, resulting in the substantial gathering of 65 people.

Following the operation, all participants were transported to the police station. The Moinabad circle inspector confirmed to NDTV that legal proceedings have commenced, including charges under Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, as well as for organizing a ticketed event without required police authorization.

Law enforcement has formally notified the families of all minors involved in the incident.
