On Sunday, authorities apprehended a man for allegedly committing sexual abuse against a 7-year-old girl inside his vehicle, according to a Goa police official.

The official from Bicholim police station identified the suspect as 47-year-old Satyawan Harishchandra Gaonkar.

According to the victim's father's complaint, Gaonkar persuaded the young girl to accompany him in his car on Saturday night by offering to buy her food. While returning, he stopped the vehicle and sexually abused the child. Law enforcement officers detained Gaonkar during the early hours of Sunday from his residence in Velguem," the official explained.

The child underwent medical examination at Goa Medical College and Hospital located in Bambolim. Authorities have charged Gaonkar under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Goa Children's Act, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation continues to proceed," added the official.
