Imphal/Guwahati:

After a two-year hiatus resulting from the Meitei-Kuki ethnic conflict, postal operations have finally recommenced in Manipur's Churachandpur district on Saturday.

Churachandpur experienced some of the most intense violence during the ethnic clashes that swept through the region.

Mail delivery has resumed with regular postal vans now traveling the 65 km route from Imphal, the state capital, to Churachandpur since last week.

According to government officials, there is an enormous backlog of undelivered mail, including letters, packages, and various other postal items awaiting distribution.

The violent conflict in Manipur resulted in over 250 fatalities and forced approximately 62,000 residents to flee their homes, severely disrupting postal services and other governmental operations throughout the region.

For the past eight months, Manipur has been under President's rule as recovery efforts continue.
