Biren Singh, MLAs Camp In Delhi To Push For Government Revival In Manipur

The President's Rule in Manipur was implemented on February 13.

Former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is leading a delegation of BJP legislators to Delhi, advocating for the establishment of a new government in Manipur, which is currently under President's Rule. The team includes BJP MLAs H Dingo, Th Robindro, S Ranjan, former minister Govindas Konthoujam, and Hill Areas Committee chairman Dinganglung Gangmei.

President's Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13 following prolonged ethnic conflict, and was subsequently extended for an additional six months in August with parliamentary consent. While the state remains under central administration, the Assembly has not been dissolved but is in suspended animation, which maintains hope among BJP legislators for reinstating an elected government.

Before departing from Imphal Airport for Delhi, Biren Singh stated his intention to meet with the BJP's central leadership to advocate for the prompt formation of a new government in Manipur. He added, "The discussions will also address strategies to resolve the ongoing crisis, particularly the situation of internally displaced persons."

The BJP legislators in Delhi plan to request meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J P Nadda, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, due to the Prime Minister's busy schedule, it remains unclear whether they will have the opportunity to meet with him.
