Mumbai:

At the inauguration of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 held at Mumbai's State Police Headquarters, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar disclosed a troubling experience involving his young daughter to highlight cybercrime threats facing children.

Kumar revealed that several months ago, his 13-year-old daughter encountered an alarming situation while engaging in an online video game, where an unknown individual requested her to share personal photographs.

During his address at the event, the actor explained the incident in detail: "I want to share a brief situation that occurred at my home some months ago. My daughter was playing an online video game - one of those games where you can interact with strangers."

"During gameplay, messages sometimes appear... A message arrived asking, 'Are you male or female?' She responded 'female.' The next message requested, 'Can you send me nude pictures of yours?' This happened to my daughter. She immediately turned off the device and informed my wife. This is how such situations begin. This is indeed a form of cybercrime."

The 'Welcome' actor urged Maharashtra's Chief Minister to implement weekly cyber education classes for students in grades seven through ten, saying, "I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children receive proper education about these issues. As we all know, these crimes are surpassing street crime in prevalence. It's crucial that we address this growing problem."

Kumar attended the event alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Iqbal Singh Chahal (IPS), and actress Rani Mukerji.
