Uttar Pradesh Man Dies After Being Chased and Assaulted by In-Laws Following Domestic Dispute

In a disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh, a man was pursued along a highway by his in-laws and violently attacked following an argument with his wife, according to police reports. The victim, identified as Sonu, was severely beaten and allegedly forced to consume poison. He later died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The incident occurred after Sonu and his wife, residents of Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, had a heated dispute on Wednesday morning. Following the argument, the wife contacted her parents in Bulandshahr and informed them about the situation.

Upon arrival, the wife's family reportedly assaulted Sonu. When he attempted to escape, they chased him down the highway. Witnesses who tried to intervene and assist Sonu were allegedly mistreated by the family members, who subsequently fled the scene.

Sonu was transported to a hospital in critical condition where he later died during treatment.

Sukhwiri, Sonu's mother, stated that disagreements between couples are common. "I don't know the reason behind the argument," she commented.

"My son provided everything for his wife. He even sold a bigha of land for her while she took away my jewelry. They (in-laws) gave him something to drink and killed him," Sukhwiri alleged.

CCTV footage captured the incident, showing several men running on the highway attempting to apprehend Sonu. One individual can be seen carrying a stick.

Based on the family's complaint, police have registered a case against seven members of the in-laws' family, including Sonu's wife. Authorities are currently searching for the accused.

According to the preliminary investigation, Sonu ingested a poisonous substance and died during treatment, as reported by Station House Officer Pilkhuwa, Anita Chauhan.

"The investigation is ongoing, and appropriate legal action will be taken," Chauhan added.
