India's Defence Minister Warns Pakistan: Aggression in Sir Creek Will Change 'History and Geography'

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a stern warning to Pakistan during Dussehra celebrations near Bhuj, stating any aggression in the Sir Creek region would face a decisive response. While celebrating with troops and performing 'shastra puja,' Singh highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor against terrorism and emphasized the importance of military jointness in protecting India's sovereignty.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a stern warning to Pakistan regarding potential aggression toward the Sir Creek region during his Dussehra celebration with soldiers at a military base near Bhuj, Gujarat.

Singh emphasized that any Pakistani aggression in the disputed area would be met with a "resounding response" that could alter "history and geography."

He referenced historical conflicts, noting, "In the 1965 war, the Indian Army had demonstrated the capability to reach Lahore. Today in 2025, Pakistan should remember that one route to Karachi passes through the creek."

The disputed Sir Creek is a 96-km-long tidal estuary between Gujarat's Rann of Kutch and Pakistan, with unresolved border issues despite India's attempts at diplomatic resolution.

Singh expressed concern over Pakistan's expanding military infrastructure in areas adjacent to Sir Creek, revealing what he described as questionable intentions.

Regarding Operation Sindoor, Singh affirmed that India's counter-terrorism efforts would continue. He stated Pakistan unsuccessfully attempted to breach India's defense systems from Leh to Sir Creek during the operation.

The Defence Minister highlighted that Indian forces had effectively exposed Pakistan's air defense vulnerabilities, demonstrating India's capability to inflict significant damage when necessary.

Singh clarified that India showed restraint during Operation Sindoor because the military action targeted terrorism rather than seeking to escalate into war. He expressed satisfaction that Indian forces had achieved all military objectives of the operation.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 following the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The resulting four-day military engagement concluded on May 10 with an understanding to cease military actions.

Singh emphasized the importance of jointness among the three military services, crediting this coordination for the swift execution of Operation Sindoor. He specifically congratulated the soldiers and officers involved in the operation's success.

Describing the Army, Air Force, and Navy as the "three pillars" of India's strength, Singh stressed their collaborative role in effectively addressing security challenges.

The Defence Minister has maintained the tradition of performing 'shastra puja' (worship of weapons) on Dussehra for many years, including during his previous tenure as Union Home Minister.

During the ceremony, Singh explained the significance of weapons in Indian tradition: "For us, weapons are not just tools. Weapons are not merely for displaying power. Rather, we believe that weapons are a means to establish righteousness."
