Former Kerala Police Chief Jacob Thomas Joins RSS as Full-Time Pracharak, Calls it a "Unifying Force"

Former Kerala Police chief Jacob Thomas has joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time 'pracharak', describing the organization as a "unifying force". During an RSS event in Kochi on Vijayadashami, Thomas appeared in the traditional RSS uniform and confidently stated, "People in Kerala are not against the RSS."

The former Director General of Police emphasized that the RSS strives to develop individuals with cultural strength. "With more such individuals among us, the society will become stronger, and it will lead to the strengthening of the nation," Thomas explained, highlighting the RSS's vision of building a strong nation through empowered individuals.

Thomas further clarified that the RSS transcends divisions of caste, religion, language, and regional factionalism.

Addressing criticism that the RSS is a religious organization, he offered his personal background as evidence to the contrary: "I studied at St Mary's School and then at St George's College. I practised the Christian religion and is today presiding over an RSS function on its 100th anniversary," the former DGP told news agency ANI.

Thomas previously served as Director of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) in Kerala. He had joined the BJP in 2021 and recently announced his intention to join the RSS.

Last year, former DGP R Sreelekha, who made history as the first woman IPS officer in the Kerala cadre, joined the BJP. Additionally, former DGP TP Senkumar has also established connections with the RSS.
