Newborn Abandoned in Forest by Government Teacher Survives Miraculously Under Rock in Madhya Pradesh

A newborn infant cried beneath the open sky, with only the cold forest floor as his cradle. Ants crawled across his delicate skin in his first hours of life. This is the harrowing tale of a three-day-old baby who was placed under a stone and abandoned in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara forest by his own parents.

The helpless infant endured a night of freezing temperatures, insect bites, and near-suffocation while trapped beneath a heavy stone. At dawn, his desperate cries penetrated the silence of Nandanwadi forest, alerting nearby villagers. When they discovered the source of the sound, they moved the stone to find a bloodied, trembling baby who had miraculously survived against overwhelming odds.

Authorities report that the father, Bablu Dandoliya, a government teacher, and mother, Rajkumari Dandoliya, deliberately abandoned their baby because he was their fourth child. The father feared losing his government position under regulations that restrict employment for those having more than two children. The couple had concealed the pregnancy, already having three children.

On September 23, Rajkumari delivered the baby at home. Within hours of birth, the infant was taken to the forest and abandoned beneath a stone.

Morning walkers in Nandanwadi village first detected the cries. "We initially thought it was an animal," one villager recounted. "But as we approached, we saw tiny hands struggling beneath a stone. No parent should ever commit such an act."

Medical staff at Chhindwara district hospital confirmed the infant had sustained ant bites and showed signs of hypothermia. "His survival is truly miraculous," stated a pediatrician. "Overnight exposure in these conditions is typically fatal." The baby is now safe and receiving medical care.

Law enforcement has registered a case under Section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for child abandonment. SDOP Kalyani Barkade stated, "We are consulting with senior officers. Additional sections, including 109 BNS (attempt to murder), may be added following legal review."

According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) statistics, Madhya Pradesh has the highest incidence of abandoned newborns in India. Poverty, social stigma, and regressive employment-related fears drive many such cases. However, experts note this particular case is especially disturbing because it originated not from desperation, but from an educated family choosing concealment over responsibility.
