Tragic Accident in Delhi: One-Year-Old Infant Dies After Falling Into Water-Filled Bucket

A senior police officer confirmed that no external injuries were discovered on the child's body.

A tragic incident occurred in Delhi's Budh Vihar where a one-year-old infant girl lost her life after accidentally falling headfirst into a water-filled bucket at her residence, police reported on Wednesday.

The authorities became aware of the incident on September 29 when Jaipur Golden Hospital notified the Vijay Vihar police station that a child, identified as Bhagya, had been brought to the facility already deceased, according to officials.

Family members stated that the young girl fell into the bucket at her home around 12 noon. A senior police officer confirmed that the child's body showed no signs of external injuries.

"This heartbreaking incident happened while the mother was attending to her twins in the bathroom. As she was undressing one child, the other twin accidentally slipped and fell into a bucket filled with water," explained the officer.

Upon turning around, the mother discovered her child unresponsive in the bucket. The infant was immediately rushed to the hospital, where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Police have initiated proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Following the autopsy, the child's body has been returned to the family, the officer added.
