Bengaluru Man Arrested for Machete Attack on Zepto Delivery Agent in VV Puram

Bengaluru:

A Bengaluru resident has been taken into custody following an assault on a Zepto delivery agent with a machete.

Authorities have identified the assailant as Chandan. The violent confrontation took place in the vicinity of a Zepto warehouse located in VV Puram.

The Incident Captured on Camera

The footage of the attack has spread widely across social media platforms. The video depicts Chandan riding as a passenger on a two-wheeler, dismounting the vehicle, and subsequently assaulting the Zepto delivery personnel with a machete.

Chandan struck the delivery agent on his back. The victim appeared to sustain a minor injury, as he was able to flee from the scene.

The footage shows Chandan returning to his vehicle initially. However, he exits the vehicle again, wielding his machete and searching for someone. Upon returning to his vehicle, Chandan swings the weapon at another individual who also appears to have received a non-critical injury.

Pre-existing Relationship Between Attacker and Victims

Law enforcement officials have clarified that this was not an arbitrary attack, as Chandan and both victims were previously acquainted.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh B. Jagalasar stated, "Initial investigations indicate that the accused and the victims knew each other, and there seems to have been an ongoing rivalry between them, which precipitated the incident. We have detained two of the accused and charged them under the applicable sections of law."

Reports indicate Chandan was intoxicated when he attacked the two individuals.

Following the incident, the VV Puram police filed a case, which led to Chandan's arrest.
