A couple in Bihar has taken their relationship from classroom to marriage, despite family opposition. The young woman and her teacher recently eloped and tied the knot at a temple, subsequently releasing a video appealing for their families' acceptance.

In Jamui district, Bihar, Class 12 student Sindhu Kumari had been attending a coaching center where she met Prabhakar Mahato, her teacher and a newly recruited police officer who joined the force six months ago. Their initial student-teacher relationship evolved into friendship and eventually blossomed into love while Kumari was preparing for government job examinations.

When their families discovered the relationship, both sides strongly objected. Kumari's family refused to consider a marriage between them, while Mahato's family in Lakhisarai district also expressed disapproval of their relationship.

Facing this opposition, the couple made the decision to elope last week and conducted their marriage ceremony at a temple. In a video that went viral after being released on Monday, they expressed fear about potential repercussions from their families.

Kumari emphasized in the recording that she was legally an adult, stating "I am over 18 years old" and clarified that she married Mahato of her own free will. "He did not kidnap me," she asserted, while pleading with the police not to harass her husband or his relatives.

Similarly, Mahato requested police protection, declaring his genuine love for Kumari and their commitment to spending their lives together.

Addressing the situation, Jamui police officer Amarendra Kumar stated that authorities are investigating the matter and plan to speak with both families to ensure the couple is not under any form of pressure.
