Nida Khan, a 19-year-old MBBS student from India studying at Ad-Din Momin Medical College in Dhaka, was discovered deceased in her hostel accommodation on Saturday.
The tragic news has deeply affected her hometown in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, where residents are overwhelmed with grief.
While some local sources have suggested suicide as a potential cause, law enforcement officials have not confirmed this theory and are conducting a thorough investigation without ruling out any possibilities.
The college administration has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, prompting questions about their apparent silence on the matter.
In Khan's village in Rajasthan, a somber atmosphere prevails as family members, friends, and neighbors mourn her untimely death. Her family is currently making arrangements to repatriate her remains to India as quickly as possible.
The All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) has sought assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs, with AIMSA Vice President Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan formally requesting External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's intervention to facilitate the return of the student's body from Bangladesh.
Jhalawar district officials have reported that they have not yet received formal notification about the incident.
Close friends of Nida Khan have described her as a vibrant and promising student, expressing strong doubts about the possibility that she would take her own life.
