Tragic Murder-Suicide in Gurugram: IT Engineer Kills Wife Before Taking His Own Life

A software engineer in Gurugram allegedly strangled his wife following an altercation and subsequently took his own life, according to police reports on Monday.

The 30-year-old engineer, Ajay Kumar, sent a video message to his friend indicating his intentions to commit suicide.

Kumar, who hailed from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, had been married to Sweety Sharma, 28, from Asansol, West Bengal, for three years. Both were employed at an IT company in Gurugram.

Authorities received notification from Kumar's friend who reported receiving a video at 3:15 pm on Sunday in which Kumar stated his plan to end his life.

The video apparently indicated that a disagreement had occurred between the couple.

Upon arriving at their apartment in a residential complex in Sector 37, police discovered Sharma's body on the floor with a scarf around her neck, which had been used to strangle her.

Kumar was found hanging from a ceiling fan, police reported.

Investigators believe that Kumar killed his wife, though the motivation behind both deaths remains under investigation.

Sharma's family has alleged murder and filed a formal complaint against Kumar.
