Noida:

Police reported that a 22-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and her younger brother with a hammer before taking his own life at his in-laws' residence in a Noida Extension village on Monday.

According to relatives, the man had been experiencing mental health problems and had arrived at his in-laws' home from Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh approximately 10 days prior to the incident.

Bisrakh police stated that the accused, identified as Pappu Lal (22), fatally attacked his 21-year-old wife Jaswanti and her 6-year-old brother Tej Prakash with a hammer around 4:30 pm.

"Following the assault, Lal committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan hook in his room," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy.

Authorities revealed that the accused's father-in-law, Narayan Lal from Gajraula in Pilibhit, resided with his family in Roza Jalalpur village and worked as a laborer. Both Lal and his wife were at their workplace when the tragedy occurred.

Family members informed police that Pappu's mental instability likely contributed to the violent incident.

Senior police officials and forensic experts have examined the crime scene as legal proceedings continue.
