Prime Minister Modi has written the foreword to the Indian edition of Giorgia Meloni's autobiography

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's autobiography offers readers an authentic glimpse into her innermost thoughts and feelings, effectively sharing her "Mann Ki Baat," as Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed in his foreword to the Indian edition of her autobiography. Published by Rupa Publications, "I Am Giorgia: My Roots, My Principles" is soon to be released in India.
In his foreword, Prime Minister Modi emphasizes that Prime Minister Meloni's life journey transcends mere politics or power pursuits. "It exemplifies her courage, conviction, and dedication to public service and the Italian people," he writes.
"Throughout my eleven years interacting with global leaders, each with unique life stories, I've observed how some journeys extend beyond personal narratives to represent greater ideals that have persisted across different cultures and time periods. Prime Minister Meloni's accomplished life contains numerous such moments, making this publication truly exceptional. Her path is both inspiring and historically significant," Prime Minister Modi noted.
He recalls how media outlets and political commentators were doubtful about Meloni's leadership capabilities when she assumed office. "However, as the extraordinary leader she is, Giorgia Meloni has provided her nation with strength and stability. Her approach has consistently been pragmatic and focused on advancing global welfare. She has articulated Italy's interests with impressive clarity while remaining deeply aware of our interconnected world's challenges, engaging on the international stage with clear purpose and responsibility," Prime Minister Modi wrote.
"There are multiple perspectives from which to understand and value Prime Minister Meloni's rise and leadership. Among these, I recognize a powerful connection between her story and the concept of Nari Shakti, the divine feminine energy that has been revered in Indic traditions for millennia in various forms," he added.
Prime Minister Meloni, he observes, has maintained her roots while confidently guiding her nation on the global stage. "This explains why her journey resonates so profoundly with us in India. Her autobiography provides readers with an honest and unique perspective into the mind and heart of one of Europe's and the world's most dynamic leaders. It is also deeply personal."
"Her progression from a modest Roman neighborhood to Italy's highest political office highlights how purpose transcends narrow partisan politics. Her commitment to protecting motherhood, national identity, and tradition will connect with Indian readers. Her belief in preserving cultural heritage while engaging globally as equals mirrors our own values. Throughout the book, her compassion for her people and her vision to lead them toward peace and prosperity are evident," the Prime Minister wrote.
India and Italy, he notes, share connections that go beyond formal agreements or commercial relationships. "We are united by shared civilizational instincts such as heritage preservation, community strength, and the celebration of womanhood as a guiding principle. Our nations are spiritually connected through respect for tradition alongside embracing modernity. This forms the foundation of my personal friendship with Prime Minister Meloni," he wrote.
"I believe the book will be warmly received as a refreshing narrative of an exceptional contemporary political leader and patriot. Writing this foreword has been a great privilege. This is more than an autobiography; it is her Mann Ki Baat," Prime Minister Modi wrote, referencing his monthly radio broadcast to the nation.
The friendship between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Meloni has gained tremendous popularity on social media, with each interaction sparking numerous memes. The two leaders frequently showcase their rapport through videos and selfies, with the Italian leader creating the now-viral hashtag Melodi. Their personal connection has also enhanced New Delhi-Rome relations, with both leaders expressing eagerness for cooperation across multiple sectors.
