Mumbai:
A tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra's Palghar on Sunday when a seven-year-old boy lost his life and his sister sustained injuries after their mother violently attacked them with a rolling pin because they requested non-vegetarian food.
Police reports indicate that young Chinmay Dhumde had asked his mother, Pallavi Dhumde, for a chicken dish. This request triggered a violent response from the mother, who beat her son fatally. She subsequently attacked her 10-year-old daughter with the same rolling pin. The daughter is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
Concerned neighbors, who heard the children's cries, immediately contacted law enforcement. Following the alert, local police officers, the local crime branch, and the sub-divisional officer promptly arrived at the scene, according to officials.
Authorities have filed murder charges related to this incident. The mother has been apprehended by police, officials confirmed.
District Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh stated, "Pallavi Ghumde, 40, resided with her family in an apartment in the Kashipada area. Her son, Chinmay Ganesh Ghumde, 7, was severely beaten with household items and succumbed to his injuries. Her 10-year-old daughter was also assaulted. A murder case has been registered at the Palghar police station. The Palghar police are continuing their investigation into the matter."
