Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor speaks on the upcoming Bihar election
Patna/New Delhi:
During an exclusive NDTV interview, Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor made bold predictions about Bihar's political landscape. He asserted that the Janata Dal (United) would secure fewer than 25 seats in the forthcoming assembly election, while the BJP would experience losses and the Opposition alliance would end up in third place.
Kishor confirmed his party Jan Suraaj will contest all 243 seats independently, rejecting any potential alliances.
Known widely as PK, the former election strategist declared his party "will either be first or last, but there is no middle ground in this election." He emphasized his extensive grassroots campaigning efforts throughout the state.
PK directly challenged JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary, announcing plans to send a defamation notice. "But merely sending a notice doesn't absolve anyone. I have accused him of corruption worth Rs 200 crore. Ashok Choudhary should address whether he purchased land and why it was registered under his personal assistant's name," Kishor stated.
He questioned if the JD(U) leader considered himself above legal accountability.
Taking aim at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Kishor recalled that Kumar previously insisted party leaders facing allegations should provide explanations and resign.
"But Nitish Kumar is no longer able to control the state's administration. Nitish Kumar may not be a bad person, but leaders and officers around him are looting. If Nitish is not a thief, then who is stealing?" Kishor remarked.
Regarding his electoral participation, Kishor said he would decide within four or five days whether to personally contest. He confirmed his family would remain uninvolved, explaining, "My wife is a doctor and visits occasionally, and my son is young."
He reiterated that Jan Suraaj would maintain its independent stance without forming alliances.
Addressing AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's active campaigning in Bihar, Kishor criticized the party for practicing "religious politics" and stated Jan Suraaj would distance itself from such approaches.
Kishor firmly rejected the Bihar government's Rs 10,000 financial aid scheme for women, dismissing it as "a simple bribe, not a game-changer."
He alleged that Kumar has compromised with corruption and crime, pointing to murder charges against leaders like Samrat Chaudhary and Dilip Jaiswal, whom he described as "the faces of power today."
Kishor concluded by promising to soon expose four or five prominent figures, adding, "I will reveal more."
